What Crow Knows, 150x100cm

Healing happens in the dark, where crow resides, and I want to know what crow knows. This piece was created during my recovery from a bout of severe bad health. My skin condition worsened rapidly, I was unable to sleep, I could no longer paint and I felt the worst I have ever felt in my life. Doctors wouldn’t listen and denied my condition, and within the hopelessness I had to find the will to live again. As soon as my skin was strong enough to paint again I began this piece. I felt as though I had lost my purpose, but I found solace in crows and the idea that they travel within those dark, unknown spaces. Through art, and through observing the natural world and trusting in my body’s ability to heal, I found my will deep within my heart, my spirit’s force to live. I will never take life for granted again.
